I bought a Korg unit around 1975, which did pretty good hand-clapping, but do not think it likely that one existed in 1957.

However, a common trick in the 1950's and 1960's was to record one hand-clap and then ADT it into infinity, so it could be that too.

Or you might simply have some very consistent clappers!

Not so difficult to do when you have a good drummer.

Have another version of this by Bobby Day from 1957, and the hand-clapping is most definitely live!
