The timing of the whole thing wasn't good, as James Brown died early Christmas morning. And Bob took time away from being with family and other loved ones on Christmas to scramble to come up with an excellent one-hour tribute to JB. Producing a show is probably harder than you'd think, especially when it should be completed as soon as possible. Earlier in the year, Gene Pitney and Billy Preston passed away as well, and Bob did hour-long tributes for them as well. But regarding JB, I only remember hearing just a handful of his songs being played on the radio, when you consider that he had many, many songs that did well on the charts -- because of the fact that I grew up in a predominantly white area. And the same holds true for many other R&B artists as well.
