By the way, what would YOU call a "Major" hit, Top 10 or Top 20

Jim replied...

I honestly do not know. To me, anything which hit the Top 40, was a hit, but I suppose Top Ten seems to be what most of the oldies radio playlists included, up until recently anyway.

Nowadays, if it did not make Number 1, and can be rotated ten times a day, they won't play it.

As a result, they are slowly burning out the product.

Oddly enough, while writing this, I am listening to the Irish State Radio, RTE1, and in the last few minutes, they have played "The Last Leaf" by The Cascades, abd "Nashville Cats" by the Loving Spoonful - two tracks you rarely if ever hear on oldies radio nowadays.

Oldies radio has gone to hell.

Come back Bob.
