Why some even think releasing this past material on current CDs is a bit ridiculous. Like, the thrill is gone, where have you been?! Odd.

Jim replied...

You mean they want it only on vinyl?

Or they do not want to have the material re-issued at all in any format?

They sound like sad people to me.

All I know is when I was 13 or 14, I heard so many tracks I could not afford to buy.

Now I can get them in superb quality.

But why should I pay multiples the original price so as to make some vinyl junkie even richer?

It's what's in the grooves that matters - not what type of plastic they were originally issued on.

I remember a guy asking me could I sell him a Jerry Lee Lewis single many many years aqo, and as I had the same track on an album, I just said "take it - I do not need it".

He was so grateful he asked me if I would like to see his collection.

Amongst them, he had Hank Thompson singing "Blackboard Of My Heart", and I remarked that I always liked it and asked him what he thought about it.

He looked at me as though I was from another planet.

"I have no idea what it sounds like - I know it is an original, and very valuable, but naturally I never played it. That would only ruin its value".

I knew then I was dealing with a nut-case - somebody who thinks the value is in its rarity - and not in the music itself.
