Jim replied.... Ah come on John - don't be too dismissive of Decca! Decca actually did have Buddy Holly (they were the first to sign him) and they did not pass him on to Brunswick. They released several singles by him, but none charted. His contract expired, and his manager promptly signed him to Brunswick for the Crickets sides, and Coral for the solo sides, (but still part of Decca whose top execs were not even aware of Norman Petty's back door approach!) Decca were not all that bad. I mean - who brought you the Rolling Stones? OK - perhaps you were right now that I look at that last remark!
