Subject: RE: Session: Bill Haley & His Comets - (We're Gonna) Rock Around The Clock - 1955

Message Detail:
I hear what sounds like drum sticks hitting the rim of a snare drum throughout the song, yet I hear a drummer that's in the distant and a nearer one. Two drummers? I gather the nearer one, if such, is the one who does the countdown, typical with opening instruments. Don't think they had 2 track tape recorders back in 1955.

Thanks!

Story: I used to enjoy playing drums to prerecorded music, radio and LPs, and used to try to execute other drummers' clever maneuvers, only to (much later) learn that drum overdubbing wasn't uncommon. Stood out like a sore thumb on songs like "She's Not There", by The Zombies, when presented in stereo. They went as far as to later re-record what was missing in the stereo mix utilizing the original drummer.

Best,
John
