First off, welcome back, Jim! Neat story about the clean 45rpm! Too coincidental! Great! Always liked the "live" recordings Liberty Records made (re: Mr. Burnette)! Why you can find more alternate versions of early hit songs, but not many later on, since overdubbing killed that chance! It finally came to me! :) On another note, over the holiday, I picked up a CD in the budget rack. It was priced cheaper than most. I knew the UK artists names, but was afraid all remakes. Here's the kicker, it's titled "Immediate Hit Singles", made in the USA, 1991, by a Creative Sounds Ltd. With the help of others, I discovered this "Immediate Records" is a label created by Andrew ____ Longhorn Also got a Burl Ives earlier CD. Odd thing, even with his handful (4?) of '60's Top 40 Hits, they don't sound familiar, though one is vaguely familiar. However, a pleasure to listen to!! Also chatted with David Paton of the Scottish group, Pilot, after I found an odd version of their US '70's hit "Magic" on CD. What was written about it made no sense in the CD booklet! Often wonder why Alan Parson was credited as Producer of that song. Was told he was responsible for "the sound" only, and probably like Paul McCartney, was nowhere to be found in the recording studio, but yet, a Producer! Go figure! I'm finding it harder and harder to find people to chat with about music! Good news about "Enamorado", too! Thanks, Jim!! Best, |
