Subject: RE: TRIVIA - WHO AM I?

Message Detail:
I think her name was Gianetta Mazzoro - how that translates to Ginny Arnell I am not too sure.

What was it with the Italian-American singers like Bobby Rydell, Frankie Valli, Freddy Cannon, Bobby Vee, Dean Martin, etc., that they all needed to change their names?

I mean if their real names were good enough for Elvis, and Buddy Holly, and Jerry Lee Lewis, and even Fats Domino, what was wrong with Bobby Ridarelli, or Frankie Castelluccio, or Freddy Picariello, or Bobby Velline, or even Dino Crocetti?

OK - I suppose the new names sound snappier and having been born with an unpronouncable name myself, I sometimes wonder that if perhaps I had changed it to Jimmy Lee - could I too have been a star?

I can see it now....

John on Ultimate Oldies with "Jimmy Lee In Stereo" - with you probably adding that he sounds "twice as bad in stereo as in mono".

So on second thoughts - perhaps not.

But there has to be a reason I did not make it. It couldn't have been just my looks and my voice.

There had to be another reason.

Must have been my name.

As Henson Cargill put it

"Mommy & Daddy are the ones to blame...
Skip A Rope"

I must go into counselling.
