Subject: RE: Got To Get You Into My Life - 60's Artist Unkown

Message Detail:
Actually Joe Meek was the first person in the music industry to show faith in Cliff Bennett, and he produced seven sides for Cliff - three A sides, and four B sides, all leased to Parlophone.

These were:

61-06 You Got What I Like [Parlophone R 4793] A
61-06 I'm In Love With You [Parlophone R 4793] B
61-10 When I Get Paid [Parlophone R 4836] A
61-10 That's What I Said [Parlophone R 4836] B
62-03 Poor Joe [Parlophone R 4895] A
62-03 Hurtin' Inside [Parlophone R 4895] B
64-03 Beautiful Dreamer [Parlophone R 5119] B

None charted, and following this, Bennett signed with Brian Epstein, and George Martin produced "One Way Love" 64-10 (and it's flop follow-up "I'll Take You Home") while Paul McCartney produced "Got To Get You Into My Life" 66-09, which was a hit.

A few weeks after Cliff's single reached Number 6, Joe Meek murdered his landlady and committed suicide on the anniversary of the death of his hero - Buddy Holly.
