Subject: US songs, in uncommon forms, exclusively distributed outside the US

Message Detail:
With The Association, their songs (on CD) surface in Japan, remixed and remastered.
With The Carpenters, involving Richard Carpenter, in Japan, their (actual) hit songs can be found in karaoke (and other) form on CD.

Why is this done? I would think US record companies would do whatever to make money in the US.

Thanks!

Best,
John
