Pity Pat was ever persuaded to do Little Richard and Fat Domino - he had a great great voice, and on ballads,he was superb - particularly on things like "April Love", and "For A Penny". Elvis - when asked who the best singer in America was - said Pat Boone (and he wasn't laughing at the time!). He was even capable of having a bit of an edge on things like "Moody River" and "Big Cold Wind" but my favourite track by him is "Why Baby Why" - not sure why, but I just like it. Ah the memories. |
