Subject: Andy Williams - Butterfly - 1957

Message Detail:
While Charlie Gracie also recorded this song, and both him and Andy landed a #1 Hit (almost simultaneously) with it, Andy's did slightly better on the record charts. Actually, I didn't even know Andy recorded this!! While both artists landed more than one Top 40 Hit, with Andy landing many more than Charlie, oddly, both Andy and Charlie are a One #1 Hit Wonder. Both versions, from what I recall, sound pretty much alike! Believe Charlie was the first artist to put Philadelphia on the map of new wave Rock & Roll sound. During this period, it was not uncommon to have various artists chart the same song around the same time. This new wave, Mellow Rock sound was probably scattered about the country. From an imported CD I found in the budget bin. Think this is processed stereo. However, all tracks are licensed from Barnaby Records, Inc...

Best,
John
