Actually, Jim, he (Dean) replied to my question. On his site it mentions some were disturbed by the sirens in his hit (Indiana Wants Me), so they were removed them to better promote the song. He pointed me to a CD compilation that contains both versions. They call it a "promo", but if some complained, then it's not actually the initial promo (but an afterthought promo), the way I see it. Anyway, these CDs compilations are cleverly marketed and expensive. I only want the "odd" stuff. You can buy MP3s, but, cleverly, you can't pick and choose, you have to take the whole nine yards!

Not big on Universal Music and Hip-O. They both, at times, market poor sound quality - heavily processed. Disappointed by their "The Dells" CD set. Sounds like someone ran over one or more of the Chess/Cadet master tapes and claim "remastered". Why I seek out previous MCA Records issues - even on vinyl, they issued some impressive sound.

Best,
John
