He never really depended on hit records (just as well since he had so few), but on his stage act, which meant that even without a record contract, he worked constantly anyway. And he was great on stage. Probably still is. Love Johnny Tillotson - great songwriter too. Freddie Cannon is an acquired taste - but I really liked "Palisades Park". It was written by Chuck Barris, the guy whose life story was featured in the movie "Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind". He produced a lot of hit TV shows like "The Dating Game" and claimed to have been an assassin for the CIA, as well as being a songwriter! Would love to interview him. On second thoughts, perhaps not. Once he'd told me everything, he would probably have to kill me. Still, what a way to go. |
