Subject: #1 Hit - Mantovani - Moulin Rouge - 195?

Message Detail:
Another brain twister in the world of recorded music. Below, you'll find a snippet of Mantovani's "Moulin Rouge". In the "No. 1's of the 50's" imported CD booklet it mentions:

Mantovani
Moulin Rouge
(Georges Auric, Jacques Larue)
Campell Connelly & Co Ltd./SDRM
(P) 1958 Decca Music Group Ltd.

However, others claim, I quote, "Three versions of the song charted in 1953, the only times it has ever charted as a single in the U. S.

Artist Peak Wks at Peak Wks in Chart

Percy Faith & His Orchestra #1 10 24
Mantovani & His Orchestra #8 10
Henri Rene & His Orchestra #24 1 1 "

Text formatting error above.

My question is, how could this have charted, by Mantovani, when the CD booklet states it was Published in 1958 and, also, appears in Stereo? Maybe a re-recording, and later re-published?

Thank you!

Best,
John
