Linda, If you're shooting for March and you're starting the advertising in January...well, make sure you have as much as 3 months out to work with. Anything less may cut it too close. I'd start selling tickets right away, or as soon as you cinch the deal with the hall. Also make sure that you are not competing with another dance on the same weekend in town. That would really put pressure on ticket selling. I think you're pretty smart with your planning. Should be successful. Don't forget to start with your friends and have them help you sell the tickets. One other thing...don't go on promises. Get their money IN HAND and put the tickets in theirs. People will commit if the money is exchanged. If not, well...you know how good intentions are. Have fun... Best, Bob |
