Jim, that's because "others" call it a tax. I'm not even sure what I found was related to what was aired. So, rather than write about something I don't know much about, I asked a local radio, CBS station manager, about what I heard. Here's his response:

"It's a" Performance Royalty Tax" that recording artists are trying to get from radio on top of the licensing fees we have paid the record industry for years.
Our industry position is if they want more it should come from the labels, as radio already pays to use the music and its radio that puts the music before the public and keeps it at the forefront."

His name is, Jim, too :-)
