Though FM radio existed, it was not offered in a portable here. The number of Transistors (9 here) became a measure of performance. So much, that some manufacturers used two of the three legs of the (possibly defective) Transistors, as Diodes, just to claim the number of Transistors inside. This was Airline's best portable radio @ $59.95. Portable Tube radios were still available here. This particular portable radio seemed to function better with a pack of cigarettes nearby :-) Best, |
