Message Detail:
Jim wrote lots of fine info: .... So I could put together (and dozens of small little operators are right now doing it) a 20 track CD for basically the cost of pressing and printing!

That's why I feel the US record companies are hot to trot to get EVERYTHING Elvis, for example, ever recorded out the door, ASAP. They know copyright abroad will/have expired.

Wow! 206 songs for $13.00!!!! I'll be over shortly! :-)

I forgot all about royalties! I guess that why it's beneficial to secure the copyrights of a particular artist's material. Rhino/Warner is a good one for vacuuming in the copyright "control".

Rock music (maybe other forms) brought us overdubbing. Stuff was (last minute) "added" to the mono master tape but was found nowhere else. Hence, a LOT of Stereo songs are "minus" some things. Or, worse yet, have the LP a totally different recording than the 45 single! Time for a "rant"....

Rant:
Mickey Most - Producer of Herman's Hermits. While many may claim Mickey was a "great" producer, I question why he could care less about stereo and/or having single and LP versions different. I judge a producer by the sound he approves and his/her forethought. Granted, as you once said, and I agree, probably only 20% care about stereo/mono issues. But multiply record sales by that 20% and you already lost money that could have been had! Worse than that, then Herman's Hermits remade their hits and people get disgusted buying remakes!

Ah, well. Thanks for the info, Jim! This is a "keeper"! Have to run!

Best,
John
