OK. First of all, I'm in CT. All there are is clubs for the younger crowd. There is never any kind of dances for older people. (40+) I was thinking of playing 50-80's. Is that too broad of a time span? Is that still "oldies?" The place I'm having it used to be a big dance place back in the 80's and early 90's. So, I think if people see it is being held there, they will remember all the good times they used to have there. Now it is a banquet facility. I actually work there part time and they are letting me "try" this out. I run it, they provide the venue, food, cash bar. I get the dj and advertise it. OF course, I am hoping to be successful enough to have this dance maybe every 3 months or maybe find another place to have it and go back and forth. I really love music and I love to dance and I'm sure alot of other people would have a really good time. I've got a great menu of appetizers and desert - including an ice cream sundae bar!! I'm just afraid no one will show, and I"ll be out alot of money!! I"m looking for a dj. I will definatley meet with them first. People will either walk away saying 'the dj was great" or "the dj was awful" and I know that! I'm working on an ad. I plan to advertise in the local paper, PLUS the individual city papers in this area. Plus leave flyers everywhere. I don't think $15 is unreasonable, do you? WHAT ELSE???? Help me!!! I really want this to work.
