I will add my two-cents worth again. You have a good idea and its worth a real good try. As I said in my older post... don't expect the first time to be "greatly" successful. These things have to be built up slowly. Don't be afraid to charge admission. Anything good is worth paying something for, and it will cost to do the dance. You can't pay the price for everyone... so don't.

Be certain to check out the DJ before the big night. You want to see and hear what they plan to do for you, not what they say they will do.

Now, about that ADVERTISING. Well, something always happens when you don't advertise enough... its called nothing.

Advertising can quickly become expensive. Some things to do are: Flyers passed out everywhere people gather, restuarants, local motels, hotels, laudramats, gas stations, public bulleton boards; libraries, schools, etc. Also use newspaper ads, even if its a small one on classified section ( run for at least two weeks prior).

Now, if you had the dance in a public facility, such as a park gym, school, senior center, etc., and they were partnered with you then you may possibly gain access to Public Announcements (free of charge) on local radio. You could get up to a minute per day for several weeks if you asked right... be prepared to fax prepared copy and contact information to verify your announcement.

Also, get others interested and allow them to become involved. You will learn how valuable their help will become.

Plan to o more than one dance... by about the third you should see your idea blossom into what you dreamed it would be.
