Born 1941, James Ray Raymond, of Washington D.C.. Discovered (sleeping on rooftops, in Harlem), by song writer, Rudy Clark. A "little guy" with a powerful voice. During the peak of his popularity, James (as Gerry Granahan (Caprice Records) puts it) "got into the wrong crowd". Both Gerry and his silent partner, Neil Gallagen, got James an apartment downtown and tried to keep an eye on him. Sadly, a few weeks later, Gerry received a call from the police to identify a body, that was James Ray, who died of a drug overdose at the age of 21. My ears tell me the Caprice Records session tapes don't exist for this song and many others. However, this is from vinyl. I used and enhanced it, since James vocals are less distorted as found on other CD compilations... In Memory of Mr. James Ray Raymond... Best,
