Are you aware that the spoken word intro on the Hombres' "Let It All Hang Out" was taken directly from a novelty hit of the late '40s called "Cigareetes, Whuskey, and Wild, Wild Women" by Red Ingle? You can listen to the original on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVtcIjy6SPM and find out more about Red in www.answers.com/topic/red-ingle. Funny thing, I remember hearing the Hombres' version of the intro many times in '67 but not the rest of the record! I thought it was just an audio clip from a movie or TV show that for some reason was being played in between songs. Obviously the bulk of the record never made the slightest impression on me back then, and when I heard it only a few years ago on the Web I was like "So THAT'S 'Let It Out'!" That's one that truly slid by me. It is a unique record, a sort of "Bubba" Southern backwoodsy parody of the entire late '60s counterculture, with the vocal basically a cross between Bob Dylan and Roger Miller. Jeff
