Subject: Do The Bop (1957) - Johnny Medora & The Juvenaires

Message Detail:
BEFORE THEY WERE HITS...

Recorded for Capitol Records, but they didn't like it. Performed on Bandstand. Dick Clark suggested the lyrics should reflect the record Hops growing popularity. The writers, Johnny Medora (actually, John Madara) and Dave White, did just that. The Juvenaires changed their name to Danny & The Juniors and recorded this newly titled song, "At The Hop", for a small label, Singular Records, in Philadelphia. ABC-Paramount Records caught on to this new sound and acquired the master tape...

Best,
John
