I'm told, after I claimed it sounded like "A Boy Named Sue", that Johnny Cash also covered "The Reverend Mr. Black"!

Dave Guard left the Kingston Trio in 1961. "The Reverend Mr. Black" was recorded 01/23/1963, charted 08/03/1963. John Stewart replaced Dave Guard. John sings lead on this song. Glen Campbell can be heard playing banjo and singing high pitch chorus harmony, on "The Reverend..." Both John and Glen had their share of solo hits, later on.
