Thanks for the observations. Regarding the 'surprise' factor....when you stop to think about it, it's not really all that surprising. Throughout the history of the charts, songs which are Christian-themed in nature have not only popped up on the Top 40, but have many times made Top 5 and in some cases, made number one. One other thing, whenever the USA has gone through times of turmoil, many record buyers have found comfort in songs like 'Oh Happy Day'. Then stop to consider that in 1970, Ray Stevens' 'Everything Is Beautiful' made #1 with the opening lyrics, 'Jesus loves the little children, all little children of the world.....' In fact throughout the first few years of the 70's, a slew of religious oriented singles realized success. Regarding the key of the song, you're right on target. I have the version in the 'faster' pace...but went with the 'G' version because it was a cleaner copy and I didn't have to worry about that 'deep fried Top 40' sound resulting from well-played vinyl. Although I've had a lot of time taken up in recent weeks to work on my Baltimore 50's and 60's Radio Salute, I'm gonna make a concerted effort to do more May countdowns in the next week or so.
