Subject: Oldies - Dying a Premature Death

Message Detail:
Some tell me Oldies are going strong, but I can't agree.
Lots of Radio Stations who had those older DJs, has lost them. Now, we're stuck with a new generation and their beliefs of Oldies. First, I have to admit, I hate the word "Oldies". If you wish to attract OLD people, you do it best by calling the songs "Oldies". Personally, I feel it's an insult to listeners. A CBS VP at a local radio station mentioned I was right, when they changed their name to something other than "Oldies ...", but continued to play the same songs.

The Philly/NJ area is rapidly becoming void of ANY decent "Oldies" radio stations. I'm talking CONSTANT music, not abbreviate 2-3 hour shows or public related, nonsense, chat shows, because they have the "Largest Oldies Collection In South Jersey" crap.

Even WOGL is now phasing in the '80's songs. Soon, the '60's songs will disappear from there!

Best,
John
