Sax, bass player? Who is the female? I THINK bass!

I do not think so, as Al Caiola picked up the session fee as both guitarist and "leader", which means he picked the musicians for the session and may have done the arrangement, although it still sounds like a "head" arrangement, but there is no record of he ever using a female bass player.

John mentions, quoted from Jim Colegrove:

"First off, it's not "two vibes" it's "two bars" --"please remember not to take out those two bars." The first voice is male asking BD "what, what do I do on the intro, too?" Bobby is playing piano and explaining that he hits a C chord on it since the song is in F. Bobby tells the guy it's the same pattern. It's not clear to me who the control room voice is speaking to since it's obvious to me that the tape was re-wound and the recording started again where that voice comes in. The voice that you hear as female sounds like she says "I'm
sorry." But Bobby says "yeah, I stopped playing. I'm sorry too." The voice in the booth says "Ok, let's make it.""

So my point is, the girl was playing SOME musical instrument. Correct me if I'm in error, but only Bobby is singing on "Queen Of The Hop"; there was no female vocalist.

Best,
John

p.s. Jim Colegrove recorded at Atlantic Records, some years later.
