Message Detail:

The original, I was told, was recorded about 1936, for Decca Records. Topsy, Pt. 2 (vs Pt. 1) was the bigger hit (probably because of the drum solo). I love the big band sound; sad it died. Feel Big Bands died when ballrooms did. A Big Band could fill a ballroom with sound, well before high power musical instrument amplifiers became popular.
People always enjoyed dancing. Big Bands, the '60's, and the Disco '70's proved that. It'll probably happen again with some form of music in the future.

RIP Cozy Cole (from NJ!)

Best,
John
