Subject: Jimmy Dee's Banned Songs

Good show Jimmy! Glad you mentioned our local gov here in Indiana who back in '63 tried to ban Louie, Louie from radio play.
One song not mentioned, although it was not banned as far as I know, was Along Comes Mary by the Association. At that time, 1966, the band denied it was about pot, commonly referred to as Mary Jane. Now, however, they freely talk about it. Maybe the term was too new back then for anyone to pick up on it in the song.
I remember a song called Mary Jane by, believe it or not, the Everly Brothers that came out in 1967. It received local airplay, but not for long. It was pretty obvious what the boys were singing about...lol
