You're a gem, Jim! I'm often told I don't know much about music. Granted, I really don't. My forte' is sound quality and unusual recordings. However, I allow my ears to tell me the truth. Yes, there had to be more members to The Blossoms, than what I was previously told.

RCA Recordings: The Ballad Of Palidin. Duane's other two(?) Top 40 hits have tape hiss. The Ballad.. stood out as the best sound of the three. I felt RCA was gearing up to make the movie soundtrack of "Have Guns Will Travel".
Same way with Elvis, you can tell what songs were recorded on superior recording media (at that time), all related to movie soundtracks.

Interesting notes about non existent, artificial group members. Weren't The Rip Chords like that, too?

Thanks, Jim!

Best,
John
