John,only a minor hit here in the UK (#33),but my favourite was "Waterloo Sunset" which never charted at all in the US despite getting to #2 in the UK. I think the Kinks were perhaps the most talented of all the British acts from the 60's,being the first of the "Brit Pop" groups ie their style & lyrics were about life here in England & their influence on later acts such as Jam,Blur,Franz Ferdinand & Artic Monkeys is obvious. Try listening to their album " The Village Green Preservation Society" |
