John, I have to commend you for that one. It was truly challenging, and I couldn't come up with the answer. I thought it might be "Good To You" but didn't want to commit. My first guess was "Could It Be I'm Falling In Love" by the Spinners, until you disqualified the group as the source of the snippet. I also had Gary Wright's "Love Is Alive" as a possibility, but couldn't think of any presidential or Family Stone links to it. There are quite a few drum intros almost exactly like that, and it can be really tough to distinguish one from another. Much like the very first chord in the Eagles' "Take It To The Limit" and Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes' "If You Don't Know Me By Now." They are virtually exact duplicates, key for key, tempo for tempo, instrument for instrument. I ALWAYS have to wait for the second chord before I know which record I'm listening to. Just my 2 cents worth. J
