Subject: FM Sound Quality

Message Detail:
I'd buy the same LPs and the same CDs, but, still, FM Stereo broadcasts sound different, when they play the same. I asked around and others mentioned bass and treble boosts. No, this isn't what I'm talking about, it's more stereo separation. I gather most, if not all commercial radio stations, use some kind of sound processing. Have to assume this is done because the typical FM transmission can only provide so much channel separation, so it's further separated, electronically, before it's broadcasted. Noise issues (tape hiss on CDs, LP pops and ticks) enter into this sound processing picture, too.

I found nothing on the internet though. Bob, do you know if this is true?

Thanks!

Best,
John
