Well that explains a lot. I have spent a lifetime listening to songwriter demos, and this is (to me old ears), definitely one. It has all the hallmarks - perfect vocal pitch but an anonymous voice - very clear phrasing so the words are totally sudible - and a minimalist arrangement. Now, if it is a songwriter demo - it was surely produced by Lee Pockriss himself, and if so, it might have been JoAnne doing the vocals. I am fascinated by all of this. Somebody with access to original songwriter demos. And, given the songwriters involved in the few you mention - all probably recorded in a New York demo studio, a city where Lee lived at the time, and indeed Carole too. And Jackie Wilson! Does not solve the mystery but you have a most eclectic collection!
