Jim asked: John - where on earth did you get this? It is not the hit by Shelley Fabares, and it is not the original by Georgia Lee. Jim, it's from a "Before They Were Hits" CD. Allow me to share what I know, even though it won't solve the puzzle. These CDs, to the best of my knowledge, are bootlegs. Where did they find Jackie Wilson singing "Baby, Workout" w/o the later added orchestra? Where did they find Carole King singing her (music written) "Take Good Care Of My Baby"? None are mastered from vinyl, but Tape! When they (publisher) have something unique, they commonly fake a studio intro. Don't ask me why; I find it humorous. I gather whoever had/has, directly or indirectly, access to studio tapes. For another example, "Pineapple Prince" (below), by Annette Funicello (with The Afterbeats), another one with a fake studio intro, sounds superior to what I've ever heard before! So, your guess is as good as mine. However, I doubt this particular song was actually published, and may be an Audition or Demo tape someone found, before Shelley Fabares recorded it. Thanks! Best, |
