Joel usually gets it right, but not all the time. I once introduced the Lafayettes at a concert in Baltimore and they're from the area...but Frank Bonarrigo of the group noted that Whitburn's book had them as hailing from Bethesda, Maryland (near D.C.) which was incorrect.

Thus...another fascinating piece of trivia bites the dust. Gotta give it to Betty on this one, since she did the song and she would know.

Maybe we can get Hugh Downs to weigh in on the issue and see what HE says about it.

Didn't mention this in my talkover on the tune..but of course Charles Randolph Grean had a sizable hit with 'Quentin's Theme' from the ABC-TV afternoon series 'Dark Shadows' starring Jonathan Frid.

And the band plays on.....
