Ray Stevens is the undobuted winner - well from the 60's or 70's anyway - but if you go back to 1945, there actually was a hit called "I'm A Cranky Old Yank In A Clanky Old Tank On The Streets Of Yokohama With My Honolulu Mama Doin’ Those Beat-o, Beat-o Flat-On-My-Seat-o, Hirohito Blues", written by Hoagy Carmichael. Not only was it the title, I have a funny feeling it was also the entire song. OK - but does anybody know what was the shortest title in the rock and roll era? "If" by Bread would have to be up there along with "If" by the Paragons. "Why" by Frankie Avalon "ABC" by The Jackson 5 "War" by Edwin Starr "Ben" by Michael Jackson. "GTO" by Ronnie & The Daytonas. "MTA" by the Kingston Trio "SOS" by Abba But there must be more that just those? So what was the shortest title? (By the way - I don't know, but I am sure somebody does) |
