Ths song is " Jeremiah Peabody's Polyunsaturated Quick-Dissolving, Fast-Acting Pleasant-Tasting Green and Purple Pills " by Ray Stevens which peaked at #35 in 1961 according to Billboard.

This was his first chart hit. Ray followed this up with " Ahab, The Arab " which peaked in the Top 5 in 1962. From this point on, he would have many more chart hits including:
