Subject: RE: Trying To Figure Out The Name Of A Song

Message Detail:
"Cry for a hundred years"? So THAT'S what it says?!!!

Oh my my. I feel like I've just been violated. This is one of those songs that has one of those lyrics that, no matter how many zillion times you've heard it you simply CANNOT figure out what it says. Like the one in the theme from All In the Family ("Gee, our old LaSalle ran great")--for years the whole country thought it was "Gee, our Ola Sal rammed grapes" or something like that. Same with this one. All these years since 1971 I came up empty. What were they saying--Try so hard to forget? Raffle hard to get? Rifle hard to gas? Trifle hot for grass? Thing is, though, there's a funny thing about long-misunderstood lyrics like this. It's like you really don't care if you never find out what the correct words are, because you've heard them your own unique personalized garbled way for so long you don't want to discover otherwise.

I feel like I've just been violated.

Jeff
