Sorry to be a pest, but I have since answered my own query!

The lesson is - "listen to the full recording before posing questions about it!"

The date is February 11th (I presume) 1961. I know due to the records played that it could not be 196o if it is going to be February.

And how did I work all this out?

Well at the end, the DJ, whose name is Pete Dunn or Pete Dunne - says goodbye, and tells people that "remember - tomorrow is Lincoln's birthday", so I guess it must be February 11th the show went out.

Unless of course I have Lincoln's birthday wrong!
