Perhaps somebody from Texas might be able to assist? I have a recording taken from KBOX in Dallas, Texas. The DJ does not give his name, but one of the callers refers to him as Pat. It seemingly is an afternoon or drive time show as the time checks are between 4.50 and 5.45 and it does not seem from the comments as if it is early morning. Some of the records played are Mark Dinning "Top 40 News Weather & Sport", Don & Juan "What's Your Name", Grady Martin "The Buzz", Johnny Nash "Some Of Your Loving", Capris "There's A Moon Out Tonight", Coasters "Wait A Minute". The DJ mentions a quiz closing on "February 15th". There is a news broadcast, but only one headline -"Russia Suffers Defeat In UN Security Council". The story talks about "the deposed Congolese leader, Patrice Lumumba, who has since disappeared." It also talks about an "interim senate race, involving William Blakely (or Blakeley)" and another name which I cannot quite work out. Any idea what would be the approximate date(s) of this show? I think it might perhaps be January/February 1961. But could it be earlier? Perhaps late 1960? Unfortunately, the show does not include any record described as "new" or "just released" which is the way I usually can date them. |
