John wrote This "Shakin' All Over" (see snippet below) was a #1 Rock Classic hit, in the UK, for Johnny Kidd. Later, two other groups covered this song. I don't want to know their names, but what was the common denominator of their group names? Jim replied This is a very clever trick question! (Either that, or I have not understood the question, which is more likely!) It could be the word "Who" It could be the word "Swinging" It could be the word "Shakin". Just a guess as it has been covered by more than 70 acts. The "Guess Who" and "The Who" recorded it. So did "The Swinging Blue Jeans" and "The Swinging Medallions". And so did the band "Shakin' All Over" as did "Shakin' Stevens & The Sunsets". I thought I might have a fourth one ("Billy"). I know it was recorded by Billy Idol, and I though it had been done by Billy J Kramer on a "Live At The Cavern" EP but I don't see that listed, so my memory is obviously faulty. This question was designed to drive us mad! Which gives me one for John. Which Texas-born singer-guitarist became lead singer with the Crickets, before dying in an air-crash in Texas? |
