John & Norm... Your observations are thoughts that many agree with..and are on target. You may be surprised to know that those of us in the radio fraternity of 30 years or more refer to ourselves as 'dinosaurs'...no kidding. Then again...not knowing your prior experience Norm...maybe you are in the fraternity too. I equate the present discussion to Al Ham's 'Music Of Your Life' format...the Big Band sound that 'caught fire' in the early 70's and while reaching its peak in the early 90's...still continues today...as evidenced by Seattle's KIXI 880 AM. The music of the 50's, 60's and 70's is still popular...but it doesn't translate to the radio becasue of programming decisions that have muted if not eliminated oldies as we know it. It's nice that we still have the option of hearing many of these songs here on line. Thanks for your comments... Bob |
