John,

I do know a radio guy in Philly who is a millionaire...and I know a guy in Tampa as well who is wealthy and wants to buy a station.

The key is finding the right property. Another key is finding rich veteran radio guys who have the stomach for getting back into the game and committing their gut instincts to bringing back that winning formula.

It is too challenging for formerly successful radio moguls to go against the grain of today's corporate mentality and employ techniques that worked years ago to again make it happen.

I'm not talking a return to old technologies here...but a return to techniques.

Programming is one thing...but a station owner today needs a core of determined and tireless radio savvy people who are just as willing to work the sales and promotional angles as well.

I haven't lost hope that the old way can and may yet come back around again.

You're correct in your definition of HD...in that those channels are simply subchannels to the left and right of the main frequency.

As far as Oldies 98.1 WOGL going HD? I don't think it's really gonna do anything positive for them.

IMHO...HD radio is a total waste of time and money.

Stations need to fix the PRIMARY channels first before sinking dollars into a medium which I think is going the way of AM Stereo.

Bob
