Subject: Baltimore Colts' Tailgate Show

Message Detail:
Hey Bob,

Tom Gavin tipped me off that you were running the 1981 Tailgate show. I listened to it yesterday. What a simple time it was. I couldn't help but think that the show was a pioneer effort to what's out there today.

Schafer's comments about Irsay being a good guy and how he bought the team for 19 Million
dollars were enlightening. That's a signing bonus for a Ray Lewis caliber player today.

I thought the music was rather tame for a football tailgate show but it did reflect our playlist at the time. I had a couple of nice tie-ins but we could have done without that Kenny Rogers non-hit. Hear I am 25 years in the future critiquing myself from the past.

That hour was full of so much nostalgia. Buzz Battaglia, Chuck Jackson, John Kuchno, Ellen Beth Levitt, the BIG WHEEL. How about a Doug Griffith 5 speed Accord for $6,666?

It's hard to believe the Colts were blasted that day 35-3 as there was so much hope before the game. We lost 14 straight that year with 2 wins over New England as our only salvation.

Other than the pre-taped interviews and the live fans surrounding me outside Gate E-3, I basically just got out of the way and let it happen. It reminded me of watching the old time TV hosts from the 50's in Black and White as compared to today's media.

Hope you're doing well in Seattle. Good luck with your upcoming wedding. I saw Ken Merson on Friday and that's when I learned of your move to Seattle. Then Tom told me about the wedding.
