Without doubt Ike Turner was one of the most important music figures over the last 60 years. I had the pleasure of seeing him twice in the last few years & he was still performing brilliantly doing a complete run through of his music career. It was interesting that when he played Rocket 88 he said "people often consider this to be the first R&R record but to me it was just another boogie woogie song" What ever you may think of the man his contribution to R&R & R&B should not be forgotten. |
