Subject: Bob - EARLY RARE FAVORITES 3

Message Detail:
Since you enjoy Stereo - FYI: Velvelettes

I see Universal Music (UK) issued a lot of Motown material, but as with MCA, some of it is rare (excellent) Stereo, while some of it, including The Velvelettes, appears in Monophonic. I'll never understand record companies.

I feel I don't have many years left on this planet called Earth. However, I don't expect much to remain happy, but hearing songs I love/loved, in Stereo, makes me very happy and satified. I found a CD with "(Baby) Hully Gully", by The Olympics, in true Stereo. That was nice. However, I REALLY wanted to hear "Mine Exclusively" (1966), in Stereo. I don't believe it has ever been published, in Stereo, on any media. There is, however, an instrumental version.

The good Lord heard my wish and made it reality for me. I don't believe Mirwood Records ever intended this to be issued, in Stereo, due to the way it was recorded (lead singer on one channel - as with Jackie Lee's "The Duck"). Listening to Tape Noise, I guess this song was recorded in three (3) parts - The band, then lead singer with other vocalist, then tweaking with more (same) vocalist and hand clapping on a two track tape recorder. Below is Take #1, but of the final stage. The bulk of the song has already been recorded. You may, if you're familiar with this song, notice the difference with the backing female vocalist. You'll also hear Walter Ward? chuckle. Studio chatter is accumulative. You might say I "remastered" it.

My last song I wish to hear in Stereo, is Tony Mason's "(We're Gonna) Bring The Country To The City", in Stereo (originally on RCA 45). Another Philly favorite that went astray. However, I may have to knock on Sony-BMG's door to make that happen.

Best wishes,
John
