Hey, that's the first time I knew "Expressway to Your Heart" originally had a much longer ending. Naturally, the last four-fifths of it is totally irrelevant--especially since there are no car horns (obviously dubbed in on the 45 version) to spice it up. But you know what extended version really peeves me? And it's one most oldies and classic rock stations have been playing the last few years instead of sticking to the original single! Remember the end of Rare Earth's "I Just Want to Celebrate" where the "round-and-around-and-around" vocals come in? The original 45 prudently eliminates the bulk of them, specifically when the accompanying fuzz guitar reaches its initial crescendo and then cuts right to the familiar uptempo ending. But for some reason the recording you usually hear on radio today is the LP version where at that point the vocals degenerate to the speed of Heinz 57 ketchup and keep needlessly repeating OVER and OVER and OVER and annoyingly echoing AROUND and AROOUUND and AROOUUUND and AROOOUUUUND!!! Excuse me, I'm getting a headache. Jeff
