Jim wrote: Frequently, it is not the powers-that-be that are doing the threatening - it is the ISP which is becoming nervous. Actually, I feel, the ISP's will defend you more than a host. Look at Verizon willing to go to court to protect the identities of their users (MP3 downloading incident). I've personally had accounts "nuked", just because the service felt I tarnished their reputation. I even took one to the Better Business Bureau. Jim, they lied through their teeth JUST to defend what they had done. I've had MY OWN material deleted, because SOMEONE ELSE claimed I had posted copyrighted material. The sad thing about ANY service is, they have the right to delete user material and/or cancel accounts at ANY TIME, w/o warning. I can't say I'm in agreement with what Bob does, it's all too new to me. However, he should be able to continue, as others are, until an official decision is made. This is why I stressed that web radio stations should have researched and/or seek legal advice before events such as what is happening to Bob occurred. Jim ended with: I probably would not have the nerve to do it myself! Sometimes it's just not worth the headaches! :-) Best, |
